That last part matters. Clients are trusting your crew with everything they own. A matched, clean, clearly branded team on the doorstep is half the reassurance. Small details, like clean boots on a new carpet, get mentioned in reviews.
Built to lift
Trousers need stretch and a gusset for squatting under a sofa or kneeling to strap a load. Pockets should hold a tape, a knife and a marker without bulging into the item being carried. Avoid hard knee pad pockets with pads in, which can scratch furniture.
Tops take a hammering on the shoulders from carrying. Durable polycotton polos and sweatshirts outlast fashion cotton, which goes thin and bobbly fast.
Hands and feet
Grip is everything when carrying a wrapped chest of drawers. Coated handling gloves rated under EN 388 give purchase on polythene and blankets and save knuckles in doorframes. Footwear needs toe protection and a sole that grips on wet ramps, steps and decking; S3 safety boots are a common choice, but follow your risk assessment. Keep spare gloves in the van.
Inside clients' homes
Crews walk on new carpets, past clean walls and into nurseries. Clean, tidy uniforms show respect. Give each crew member enough sets to start every job fresh, and a spare in the van for muddy days.
Choose dark colours that hide grime from van floors and blankets, such as navy, black or charcoal. Light colours look poor by lunchtime. Shoe covers help.
Summer moves and rainy days
Peak moving season is summer. Work shorts and breathable polos keep crews going. On wet days, a waterproof jacket that does not restrict lifting is essential, and branded beanies help in winter. A long-sleeve polo under a gilet suits cold mornings in the van and comes off once the lifting starts. Keep the colours and logo the same across seasons.
Where to put your logo
Embroider the logo on the left chest of polos and sweatshirts so it stays sharp after repeated washing. A large printed logo and phone number across the back is valuable for a removals firm: neighbours watch the move and it is a natural moment for them to note your name. Avoid raised metal badges or anything on the front that could scratch furniture. Match the van livery colours.
Ordering for removal companies
Most removal companies start with workwear polo shirts, cargo and combat trousers and safety gloves. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
