Beyond the daily uniform, there is PE kit, staff wear, trip tees and the leavers' hoodie at the end of Year 6 or Year 11.
Everyday uniform that lasts
Sweatshirts, cardigans and polos are the core of most primary uniforms; secondary schools often add blazers, shirts and ties. Choose garments with good wash durability and colour fastness so jumpers do not fade after a term. An embroidered badge stays crisp far longer than a printed one on knitwear and sweatshirts.
Government guidance in England expects schools to keep uniform costs reasonable and limit branded items. Check the current statutory guidance when deciding which items carry the badge.
PE kit and clubs
PE tees, shorts and a hoodie or tracksuit top in school colours are standard. Performance fabrics dry quickly after outdoor games in the rain. House colours can be shown with different coloured tees, keeping the badge the same. Book bags, drawstring bags and backpacks complete the kit.
Staff, trips and leavers
Teaching assistants, site staff and kitchen teams benefit from branded polos, fleeces and hi-vis for playground duty and trips. Bright printed tees help staff keep track of children on a school trip. Leavers' hoodies with names printed on the back are a much loved tradition and need a clear name-collection process well before the end of term.
Keeping parents happy
School uniform has to be affordable, hard-wearing and easy to replace. Choosing standard colours means parents can buy plain extras if they need to, while the embroidered badge keeps the uniform recognisable. Staff sweatshirts or fleeces in a different colour help visitors and supply teachers find the right person quickly.
Where to put your logo
Embroider the school badge on the left chest of sweatshirts, cardigans, polos and fleeces. Embroidery copes with frequent washing and tumble drying far better than print on these garments. PE tees and trip tees can be printed, with a large badge or 'Staff' on the back for trips. Keep one approved badge file and thread colour spec on record so every reorder matches. Leavers' hoodies are printed, with names on the back and the badge on the front.
Ordering for schools
Most schools start with school sweatshirts and cardigans, kids' polo shirts and kids' T-shirts. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
