A clear, consistent uniform across in-house teams is one of the simplest ways to build that trust. Practical kit for each trade and role then keeps staff safe, warm and comfortable on the job.
Who is knocking on the door
Doorstep fraud is a real worry for older and vulnerable tenants. Staff in the association's branded uniform, carrying ID, are much easier to verify. Use the same colour and logo across every in-house role so tenants learn what genuine staff look like.
Some associations print 'Repairs' or 'Housing Officer' on the back so neighbours can see who is visiting. Contractors can be given a vest.
Repairs and voids teams
Repairs operatives cover every trade: plumbing, electrics, joinery, plastering and roofing. They need holster pocket trousers with knee pad pockets, tough polos and sweatshirts, softshells for van days and safety boots. Voids teams stripping out properties face dust, sharps and heavy waste, so add coveralls, gloves and disposables.
Indoor work in tenants' homes calls for clean overshoes or easy-clean boots to protect carpets.
- Kneepad trousers and tough polos for repairs
- Coveralls, gloves and disposables for voids
- Overshoes for work inside tenants' homes
Estates, caretakers and officers
Estate caretakers and grounds staff work outdoors and around car parks, so they need waterproofs and hi-vis. Housing and neighbourhood officers want a smart, approachable softshell or fleece with the logo, not heavy workwear.
A private online uniform shop with each role's approved kit lets team leaders order for new starters without waiting for a central purchase order. It also helps keep spending clear.
Where to put your logo
Embroider the association logo on the left chest of polos, sweatshirts and softshells for every in-house role, so tenants see the same badge each time. Print the team name, such as 'Repairs' or 'Estate Services', across the back of jackets for recognition from the street. On hi-vis, keep branding to the fluorescent fabric and never over reflective tape. Disposable coveralls are left unbranded, as they are thrown away after a job.
Ordering for housing associations
Most housing associations start with holster pocket and kneepad trousers, workwear polo shirts and softshell jackets. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
