A uniform across the practice, with clear differences by role, makes the surgery feel organised and helps patients ask the right person. It also helps locums and new staff find their way.
Clinical rooms
Practice nurses and HCAs work hands-on with patients all day: smear tests, vaccinations, ECGs and dressings. Short-sleeve tunics support bare below the elbows hand hygiene and are easy to change after a spill. Follow your practice's infection control policy on laundering and changing.
GPs vary. Some prefer their own clothes, others like a smart branded polo or shirt. Offer options rather than forcing one look on everyone.
The reception desk
Receptionists are the first person a patient talks to, often at a stressful moment. A smart, branded look tells patients they are speaking to the practice, not a temp. A blouse, shirt or polo with an embroidered logo works, with a cardigan or fleece for desks near automatic doors.
Name badges or embroidered names help patients who want to follow up a conversation.
Across a primary care network
Many surgeries share staff such as pharmacists, paramedics and social prescribers across several practices. A shared network logo with a role underneath can help patients recognise those staff wherever they work. A private online uniform shop lets each site order its own kit within the rules you agree.
- Practice nurses: tunic in nurse colour
- HCAs: tunic in a separate colour
- Reception and admin: polo, blouse or shirt
- Managers: shirt or knitwear
Reception sets the tone
For many patients the receptionist is the first person they speak to, often when they are worried. A smart, consistent uniform with the practice name helps patients know they are in the right place and who they are talking to. Name badges or embroidered names and roles on tunics and polos make it easier for patients to remember who helped them.
Where to put your logo
Embroider the practice logo small on the left chest of every garment, so clinical and admin staff share a look. Add the role, such as Practice Nurse or Receptionist, under the logo or on the right chest. Embroidery suits the hot washing tunics need. For a network covering several practices, use the network logo with the practice name beneath. A proof is sent before production.
Ordering for gP surgeries and clinics
Most gP surgeries and clinics start with healthcare tunics, scrubs and cotton polo shirts. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
