Many valeters are mobile, working on customers' drives and at dealerships. Looking smart on arrival matters as much as the finish you leave behind, especially at the premium end of the market.
Protecting the paint
After hours of machine polishing, one scratch from a jacket zip or jeans rivet ruins the job. Choose polos and tops with no exposed metal, softshells with covered zips, and trousers without rivets on the front pockets. Belt buckles are another hidden risk; many detailers go without one.
Soft, low-lint fabrics help during finishing. Avoid fluffy fleeces near freshly applied coatings, as fibres can stick to the surface.
Wet washes and chemicals
The wash stage soaks legs and feet, and snow foam, traffic film remover and wheel cleaners are harsh on skin. Waterproof jackets and trousers, wellingtons or waterproof boots and nitrile gloves keep valeters dry and protected. Check the product's safety data sheet for the right gloves and eye protection. Change wet gloves between the wash and the interior so chemicals do not end up on leather and dashboards.
Arriving at the customer
Mobile detailers often arrive at expensive homes and dealership forecourts. A tidy embroidered polo and softshell give a better first impression than a stained hoodie. Keep a clean top in the van to change into after a muddy wash stage, so you hand back the keys looking as good as the car. Fleet and dealership work often means many cars on one site, so a branded softshell or hoodie also helps forecourt staff find you.
Where to put your logo
Detailing is a premium service, so embroidery is the natural choice for polos, softshells and caps. Place the logo on the left chest and keep it neat. A small printed or embroidered website on the back of the neck or upper back helps referrals when you work on a driveway. Avoid heavy back prints on polishing tops, as thick print can be stiff against bodywork.
Ordering for car valeting and detailing
Most car valeting and detailing start with performance polo shirts, softshell jackets and waterproof jackets. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
