But removal firms also have supervisors, analysts, surveyors and drivers who work outside the enclosure and meet clients. That is where branded kit belongs. Getting that split right protects both your workers and their families.
What stays out of the enclosure
Branded workwear should never be worn inside an asbestos enclosure or taken through decontamination. Clothing worn in the work area must be handled as set out in your plan of work and HSE guidance, which normally means disposable coveralls that are bagged as asbestos waste.
Operatives arrive and leave in their own branded kit, change in the decontamination unit, and keep work-area clothing separate. Your branded clothing is for travel, site set-up and everything outside the controlled area.
Supervisors, surveyors and site set-up
Supervisors and surveyors meet clients, building managers and occupants, often in schools, offices and hospitals where people are anxious about asbestos. Calm, professional clothing helps. Embroidered polos and softshells with a clear company name show who is responsible for the work.
During set-up and waste removal, hi-vis is often required in service yards and car parks. Printed role names help occupants find the supervisor.
Disposables and site PPE
Disposable coveralls used for asbestos work must be the type specified in your plan of work, commonly Type 5 and 6. Make sure the coveralls you buy meet that specification. Safety boots for the work area are usually kept on site, cleaned or bagged as set out in your procedures. Follow your licence conditions and HSE guidance at every step.
Where to put your logo
Branding goes on the clothing that never enters the enclosure: polos, sweatshirts and softshells for travel, set-up and client meetings. Embroider a left chest logo and consider the person's role underneath, such as Supervisor or Analyst, so clients know who to speak to. Print the company name on the back of hi-vis vests, on the fluorescent fabric only and not over reflective tape. Disposables are normally left plain because they are bagged and disposed of after use.
Ordering for asbestos removal contractors
Most asbestos removal contractors start with disposable coveralls, workwear polo shirts and softshell jackets. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
