Most security firms run a mix of static guarding, mobile patrols, construction sites and reception desks. Each contract asks for a slightly different look, so the kit list rarely fits on one line.
Static, patrol and site roles
Reception and corporate guarding usually calls for a white or light blue shirt, dark trousers, a tie and a smart jacket. Patrol officers walking car parks and perimeters need warmth and visibility first.
Construction and industrial site guards often have to follow the site's own hi-vis, boot and helmet rules, so check each client's site rules before issuing kit. It is common for one officer to need two sets: a smart one for the office contract and a rugged one for the building site.
Long nights outdoors
A twelve-hour shift in a gatehouse or walking a dark yard gets very cold by 3am. Thermal base layers, a fleece and a padded or waterproof jacket let officers add and remove layers. Black and navy are standard, but hi-vis outer layers are often required wherever vehicles move.
Pockets matter: radio, torch, notebook, phone and keys all need a home that does not flap around.
Clear identification
Officers need to be recognised quickly, including from behind. 'SECURITY' printed across the back of jackets and hi-vis is a common choice, and it helps CCTV operators and police pick out your staff during an incident.
Licensed officers must display their SIA licence as required, so leave space on the chest or arm and avoid putting a logo where the badge holder needs to go. Epaulettes on shirts and jackets give a more formal finish for corporate sites.
Where to put your logo
Embroider the company logo on the left chest of shirts, fleeces and jackets, leaving room for an SIA badge holder or epaulettes. Print 'SECURITY' in large plain letters across the back of jackets and hi-vis so officers are known from behind. On hi-vis, the print must sit on the fluorescent background and never cover reflective tape. Sleeve embroidery suits a smaller secondary logo or a client name.
Ordering for security companies
Most security companies start with oxford work shirts, corporate ties and padded and winter jackets. You can order from one garment and add more as you take people on. The logo price drops at 9 and again at 25 garments, and every garment with a small logo counts towards it, so mixing styles and colours still gets the better price. Before anything is made, we embroider an actual sample of your logo and email you a photo to approve, or you can pop in to our Hull workshop to see it.
